The Paduka

Silver Padukas

Padukas of incised silver, or of wood covered with hammered silver, were worn for special occasions. Occasionally they were embellished with bells to sound upon walking.

Bronze Padukas

Padukas made of bronze, often excavated, are among the oldest surviving examples of the style.

Brass Padukas

Padukas made of heavy metals such as brass clearly underline their ceremonial use as markers of status or as ritual objects of veneration.
